About Hood View Alpacas – Est. in 1997

Oregon has been coined the “heartland of alpacas” and we here at Hood View Alpacas are doing our part to keep the heartland strong and flourishing.

Alpacas are raised for their luxuriously, soft fleeces which are transformed into finished goods that are exquisite. Alpacas is softer than cashmere, warmer than wool, and have you ever looked into the eyes of an alpaca?  This was the place where we knew our hard-earned dollars would be best invested as owning alpacas have great tax benefits while carrying their cash crop in their bellies (the cria) and on their backs (their fleece.)

In December of 1997 we started this endeavor with two pregnant Huacaya females bred to the renowned Hemingway.  Our goal was to take the necessary time to build up genetically strong bloodlines producing fiber that would live up to the standard established not only here in the heartland, but beyond.  That is exactly what we’ve done and our efforts have been rewarded both in and outside of the show ring.  While winning ribbons isn’t the full measure of any farm, we realize that we’ve been quite blessed.  Presently, we’re proud to offer a variety of females bred for greatness in all colors.  We have males from renowned herdsires (both proven & up-and-coming) that have pedigree power that any serious breeder would be happy to have in their pastures.  Just to name a few, we’re proud to offer the following bloodlines:  TRES CUARTAS ACCOYO BLACK EXPRESSO, CAMILIO of Pacific Crest, HEMINGWAY, SPARTACUS, CAVALLI, FELIX, PINK FLLOYD (grey,) HALDEN, BLACK INCANTATION … etc. etc.

We are a smaller, family-owned and operated business and it shows in the handling of our alpacas and our attention to detail.  The experiences and lessons that we’ve learned on this journey are ones that we openly and enthusiastically share.  We strive for our successes and breeding experiences to no only educate and encourage those considering this journey, but to share with and learn from our colleagues.  The best way we can compete is to offer high-quality alpacas, worthy of their strong heritage, at competitive prices.  We offer package deals, interest-free financing and experience to back up all of the above.
